We continue our focus on planning instruction tonight by adding another essential element: assessment. After making up an assessment item of our own, we will talk about what teachers should consider when planning instruction and assessment. We'll use this information to evaluate and redesign assessment items that address specific learning goals in particular ways. In addition to beginning to talk about assessment, we will follow up on our online discussion about classroom inquiry and our efforts to write an inquiry lesson plan.
Learning Goals
Students should be able to
describe the difference between summative & formative assessment.
design & describe the process of writing assessments aligned with learning goals.
critique assessments with respect to necessity, sufficiency, and developmental appropriateness.
Agenda
What are we seeing in our classrooms?
Are there things you would like to share beyond your written reflections?
